The Bord Na Nog AGM takes place next Sunday 11th Jan at 6.00PM in the Clubhouse – we would appeal to all parents to come along to the AGM and help with the running of underage football in 2015. 
The Senior AGM is on Saturday 17th Jan. 
The club are hosting a free talk and Q&A on performance nutrition in Riverstown Community Hall this Friday 9th Jan at 8.30PM with top nutritionist Daniel Davey. This is a great opportunity for Parents and young players to get advice on nutrition and performance and we would encourage all to attend. 
There was no winner of the lotto draw last weekend. The numbers drawn were 2, 20, 23 and 26 with Jacqueline McGarry a match 3 winner. The next draw is in McDermotts, Castlebaldwin on Saturday 17th Jan with the jackpot at €2,500.

The Club’s AGM takes place this Saturday 17th Jan at 7.00PM in the Clubhouse. We would encourage all who are interested in the club to attend as we prepare for 2015. 
There is an award 1 coaching course starting this weekend 16th at 7PM in Ballintogher Community Centre – anyone interested should contact Coaching Officer Mark Tuohy on 087 9834083.
The club hosted a talk on performance nutrition last Friday with top nutritionist Sligoman Daniel Davey. Thanks to Daniel for what was an excellent talk and everyone in the large attendance will have taken something away to help improve their nutrition.

At the Club's AGM last weekend former chairman Seamus Cawley stepped down from his role as county board delegate after 16 years - we would like to thank Seamus for his long dedication to this important role within the club.

2 Feb
The monthly club meeting takes place this Friday 6th Feb at 9.00PM in the Clubhouse. 
The 2014 underage awards were presented in a packed Riverstown Hall last Saturday night. Gaels Captain, Paul Higgins presented the U14 Boys with the A Championship winners medals and the U16 Boys with the A League winners medals. Sligo 2014 Ladies Captain, Elise Codd presented the Girls U14 team with the A Championship winners medals and the U16 team with Championship runners up medals. Thanks to Paul and Elise for presenting the medals. The Player of the Year awards went to U10 - Jamie Parke and Ellie McDermott, U12 - Eala McDermott and Eoin Dwyer, U14 A - Ultan McKenna and Lisa Callaghan, U14 B - Dylan Burke and Aine Brennan, U16 - Daire Kearns and Sarah Walsh and Minor - Michael Kilkenny and Aoife O'Connor. The overall winner of the Leo & Phil Kearns Memorial Cup for Player of the Year award was Lisa Callaghan. Thanks to the Kearns family for their continued sponsorship of these awards.  
Tickets have to be returned this week for the National Club draw - please return all tickets sold or unsold to any committee member before the weekend. 
Well done to the Gaels Instrumental Music team who competed in Scor NaNog recently - Ellie McDermott, Damien Cullen, Niamh Kelly and Troy Gilgarro. 
Well done to Coola Ladies Senior team and coach Gus Chapman who won the County Schools title last Monday. The Gaels were represented on the panel by Rachel Boyd, Roisin Kearns, Mairead Tuohy, Ailish Benson, Lisa Callaghan, Sarah Walsh, Sheona Leyden and Aisling Devaney.  
There was no winner of the lotto draw last weekend - the jackpot now stands at €2,700 with the next draw on St Valentines night 14th Feb in Des McDonaghs.

The club also wish to express sympathy with the family and relatives of Terry Flanagan, Riverstown and Patsy Nangle, Ross, Riverstown who died during the week and Margaret McKeon, Ballina mother of David McKeon, Michael Conlon, Castlepollard, father of Una McDermott and Jack Healy, Carney father of Audrey Barlow.

9 Feb
Registration day for underage players takes place on Saturday 21st February from 2-4PM in the clubhouse in Coola. There will be a cake sale also on the 21st after Mass in Riverstown Hall and it will also be possible to register at the cake sale.  
The lotto draw takes place next Saturday 14th Feb in Des McDonaghs with the jackpot at €2,700.
There will be a 'Spring Clean' of the club grounds on Saturday 21st February at 12.00PM - all help will be appreciated.

There will be a 'Spring Clean' of the club grounds next Saturday 21st February at 12.00PM - all help will be appreciated – bring your spades and shovels!
The senior team got the season off to a great start with a comprehensive 1-15 to 0-08 victory away to neighbours Geevagh in the Benson Cup. The team was: Donal Tuohy, Shane Barry, Paul Higgins, Colin Harte, Michael Hannon, Frank Quinn, Conor Merrick, Joe Henry, David Quinn (0-4), Ciaran O’Connor (0-1), Vinny Boyd (0-3), Peter Henry, Mark Boyd (1-2), Keith Candon (0-5), Jonny Quinn. Subs: Eoin Carroll for J Quinn, Calvin Flynn for C Harte, Declan Willis for C Merrick, Gavin McMorrow for M Hannon, Robbie Johnson for P Henry. They get the league campaign underway next Sunday  22nd against Ballymote away at 2PM.
The senior management team for 2015 is John Quinn, Mark Tuohy and Ciaran Garry. We wish them the best of luck for the year ahead.

The Lotto jackpot was won at the weekend with the lucky winner Maeve McDermott picking up €2,800. The numbers drawn were 1, 7, 13, 19. The jackpot now reverts to €1,000 with the next draw in Foleys, Gleann on 14th March.
The Senior Team drew (0-11) to (0-11) with St Michaels in the second round of the Benson Cup. They now take on Ballymote away next Saturday at 4PM in the final round of the Benson Cup.

The Gaels have been drawn in Group 1 for the Intermediate Championship with Bunninadden, Castleconnor, St Michaels and St Marys. The Junior team have also been drawn in Group 1 with Coolera/Strandhill and Curry. 
The Senior team had a comfortable 3-12 to 0-5 away win against Ballymote in the Kieran Cup. The team was: Donal Tuohy, Colin Harte, Paul Higgins, Declan Willis, Shane Barry, James Lyons, Michael Hannon (0-1), Eoin Carroll, Joe Henry (1-0), Eoin O'Connell, Vinny Boyd (0-4), Peter Henry, Johnny Quinn (1-3), Daniel Willis (1-2), Keith Candon (0-2). The Junior Ladies team start their campaign this Saturday with a home game against St Pats in the warm up league. 
We will be holding our annual 7K fun walk and run on Sunday 12th April at 1PM starting at the club grounds in Coola - we look forward to seeing you there. Registration on the day for €10.

The U16 team lost narrowly 1-7 to 1-6 to Owenmore Gaels in first round of the league last Sunday. They now are away to St Mary's next Sunday at 11.30AM. 
The Senior team are at home to Cloonacool next Sunday at 2PM in the league while the Junior team start the league next Saturday at 5PM at home to St Johns.  
We will be holding our annual 7K fun walk and run on Sunday 12th April at 1PM starting at the club grounds in Coola - we look forward to seeing you there. Registration on the day for €10.

Subs: Mark Kearns for J Quinn, Eoin Carroll for P Henry, Colin Harte for G McMorrow. They now take on St Farnans next Saturday in the Benson Cup final. 
The Junior team got a walkover against St Johns in the league, they take on St Marys next Sunday away at 2.00PM. 
The U16 team had a narrow 3-4 to 2-8 win over St Marys last Sunday with a last minute free from Karl McKenna being the difference between the sides. The team was: Ultan McKenna, Adam King, Evan Lyons, Emmet Dodd, James Carroll, Ben Tuohy (0-1), Patrick Benson (0-1), Karl McKenna (0-4), Seamus Hailstones (1-2), Shane Deignan, Dillon McDermott, Steven Willis, Michael Barry (0-1), Dylan Willis (1-0), Daniel Lyons. 6 April
The Club held a very enjoyable night in Castle Dargan last Sunday when we hosted 'Who Wears the Trousers'. The winners were Maura and Gearoid O'Connor and the Club would like to thank all of the couples who participated in what was a great nights entertainment. Thanks also to Kevin Blessing, Thomas Walsh and Anthony Connolly for ensuring everything ran smoothly on the night and a special word of thanks to Frank Quinn and Joe Quinn for organising the event.

Well done to Daniel Murphy and the Sligo Minor team and management on winning the Connacht Minor League at the weekend. 
Thanks to all who supported the 7K Fun Run and Walk at the weekend. The winner was Enda Dineen in a time of 28:11 while the first female home was Catriona McCormack in a time of 35:25. Thanks to Michelle McMorrow for once again organising the event.

The U12 boys first game is this Tuesday away to St Molaise Gaels at 7PM. 
The Junior Ladies play Owenmore Gaels next Sunday at 12PM in Coola. 
The U16 girls lost to a strong Eastern Harps side last Wednesday in first league game. They take on St Nathys this Monday and St Farnans on Mon 20th April both in Coola at 7PM.

Both U12 Boys lost their first league game to St Molaise Gaels last Tuesday. They now take on Drumcliffe at home on Tuesday 28th April. 
The Junior ladies had their first loss of the league when they went down 4-11 t 2-6 to Owenmore Gaels last Sunday. It is 25 years since we won our first Senior Championship and preparations are well underway to celebrate that success over the June Bank Holiday weekend. We will kick off with a special event on Friday 29th May when we honour the 1966 St Josephs Junior Team in Hartes, Riverstown. This will be followed by the annual Golf Classic on Saturday 30th in Castle Dargan Golf Club followed by the presentation in McDermotts, Castlebaldwin at which the 2014 Player of the Year awards will be presented. On Sunday 31st May we will be holding a family fun day at Shamrock Gaels Park following Mass for deceased members at 12.30PM. The annual Dinner Dance will take place in Castle Dargan on Sunday night during which both the 1990 and 1992 winning teams will be honoured. Keep the Dates in your diary. 
The Junior team take on Eastern Harps at home next Saturday at 7.00PM. 
The Minor team lost to St Maloise Gaels on Thursday. Scorers were: Caolan Morrisroe (0-1), Daniel Murphy (0-2), Darragh Hailstones (1-4), Luke Flynn (0-1), Daire Kearns (0-1). They also played again in the league quarter final on Sunday losing out to St Farnans. The scorers were: Darragh Hailstones (0-3), Luke Flynn (0-1), Caolan Morrisroe (0-1). They are out again next Thursday 7th in the A Shield semi-final. 
The U16 team were well beaten by St Maloise Gaels in the semi-final of the League while the U14 team had a big win over Drumcliffe in the league last Thursday.

The Ladies Junior team put in a great performance against Calry on Sunday with Simone Kelly grabbing a late equaliser to put the Ladies through the League final also against Calry. The final score was 2-14 to 3-11. The club had a busy Bank Holiday weekend kicking off on Friday night honouring the 1966 St Joseph’s Minor team in Hartes. On Saturday we had the annual golf classic in Castle Dargan. On Sunday morning we held Mass in the Clubhouse and thanks to Rev A.B. O’Shea who celebrated the Mass. On Sunday night we honoured the 1990 and 1992 Championship winning teams along with inducting Hugh McGonigle into the Hall of Fame. The winner of the 2014 Senior Player of the Year was Paul Higgins and Junior Player of the year was Gearoid McTiernan. Thanks to the many people who contributed and helped to make the weekend a great success.
The winners of the FBD Sponsored first prize at the Golf Classic were Sean Carroll, Mark Boyd and Colin Harte. 2nd Prize sponsored by Flancare were Mark Reilly, David Larrigan and Brian O'Loughlin. 3rd were Vincent Dwyer, Raymond Barlow, Tony Ballintine. 4th were Mickey Beatty, Eugene Carroll, Sean Carroll. 5th were Benny Deignan, Kevin Conlon, Dave Donovan and 6th were Adam Kearns, Philip Kearns, James Kearns. The Gaels gave a disappointing performance in the first round of the Championship losing out by 1-15 to 0-10 to Bunninadden at the weekend. The Juniors lost to Owenmore Gaels in the Abbott Cup on Sunday morning. 
The U14 boys took part in the Regional Feile competition in Markievicz Park last Saturday. They were in a group with Claremorris and O'Donovan Rossa, Derry. In the first game they defeated Claremorris in impressive style. Unfortunately they came up against a very strong Derry team and despite a brave performance lost to who would go on to win the competition. The panel was: Ryan Brennan, Dylan Mullen, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Darragh Heffernan, Niall McGovern, Shane McCann, Eoin Dywer, Sean Carroll, Christian Monaghan, Conor Kearns, Gareth Keville, Darragh Kelly, Paul Leydon, Brendan Hailstones, Dillon Conlon, Damien Cullen, Johnny Kenny, Harry Conlon. 
The U12 Group 1 team lost 0-18 to 0-8 to Eastern Harps last Tuesday while the Group 6 defeated the Harps 0-24 to 0-21. They now take on Tourlestrane this Tuesday at home at 7PM in the final league game.

The Junior team lost 2-9 to 1-8 away to Eastern Harps last Saturday in the league. They now play Coolera/Strandhill at home next Sunday 26th in the Championship at 12.00PM. 
The U16's get their Championship campaign underway this Monday 20th away to St Maloise Gaels.

The Senior team are through to the Division 2 final after an impressive 0-18 to 1-6 win over Geevagh in the final league game last Sunday. Man of the match, Donal Tuohy had two penalty saves during the game while it was also good to see Vincent Boyd and Keith McMorrow back in the Gaels colours after being out for some time with injury. Having been seven points down at half time, two second half goals from Johnny Quinn and David Quinn revived the Gaels fortunes and they could have snatched a win, but had to settle for a draw. The team was: Donal Tuohy, Colin Harte, Paul Higgins (capt), Declan Willis, Paul Brennan, Frank Quinn, Conor Merrick, Joe Henry, James Lyons, Daire Kearns (0-1), Vincent Boyd (0-3), David Quinn (1-3), Johnny Quinn (1-1), Keith McMorrow, Keith Candon (0-2). Subs: Daniel Willis for D Kearns. They now take on St Marys away next Saturday at 6.30PM in the final group game.

The U12 girls had a good 2-3 to 2-2 win over Ballisodare in their first championship game. The team was: Emma O' Carroll, Kate Brady, Lucy Williams, Ruby Clark, Ellie McDermott, Aine Power, Andie Brady, Ana McCann (0-1), Amy Willis, Nadine Hargadon (1-2), Leah Candon, Meave Lyons, Nola Eivers (1-0). subs: Megan Potter, Abbie Williams, Beth Candon, Cloda Conlon, Sanduni Nakunzyri. They now face Drumcliffe this Monday in Coola at 6.45PM. 
The Saturday morning underage coaching finished last Saturday with a great morning fun of exhibition games with an attendance of nearly 100 children. Thanks to all the coaches who give their time to help during the year. 
Tickets for the annual draw for 2 All Ireland tickets are now available from any committee member. The draw takes place on Thursday 17th. There are also other great prizes on offer including a weekend away for two at a FBD hotel and 2 nights and evening meal at a Dalata Hotel. 
The club will be holding a church gate collection at all local churches on weekend of 3rd October.

The Intermediate team made their exit from the Championship with a 3-14 to 3-12 loss to Easkey. The Gaels had been eleven points up with fifteen minutes left however were unable to cope with a strong Easkey finish. The winner of the annual draw for 2 All Ireland tickets was Patricia King while Anne Boyd won second prize and Dermot Healy won third prize. Thanks to all who supported the draw. 
The Minor team lost the B Championship semi-final to Calry last Thursday on a scoreline of 1-17 to 2-9. The team was: Conor Heffernan, Conor McGrievy, Paul Harrington, Alan Kelly, Enda O'Connell, Paul Higgins, Daire Kearns (0-1), Daniel Murphy (1-1), Karl McKenna (0-2), Darragh Hailstones (0-4), Darragh Lyons, Cian McDermott (1-1), Mark Kearns. Subs: Seamus Hailstones for M Kearns, James Carroll for P Higgins, Ben Tuohy for C McGrievy. Thanks to the players and management team of Joe Quinn, Frank Quinn and Keith McMorrow for the work with the Minor team this year. 
The U16 team had a 2 point win over St Marys in the Shield Semi-Final last Monday. They now take on Tourlestrane in the final on Monday evening at 6PM in Scarden. 
The U13 Feile team take on Tourlestrane at home next Sunday at 11AM. 
The girls minor team had a big 3-15 to 0-7 win over Owenmore Gaels in the Championship last Wednesday. The team was: Meabh McDermott, Sheona Leydon, Eilis O'Connor, Aoife Morrisroe, Sarah Walsh, Katy McCann, Roisin Durey, Louise Merrick (0-1), Roisin Kearns (0-2), Rachel Boyd (1-2), Eba McCann (0-3), Mairead Tuohy (0-1), Joanne Johnston (0-1). Subs used: Jane Benson (0-1), Makayla McLoughlin (2-4), Erin Mullaney (0-1), Chloe McTiernan, Jade Lyons.  
The Girls U16 team had a narrow 3-10 to 3-9 win over St Farnans in the Championship last Monday. The scorers were: Mairead Tuohy (2-0), Erin Mullaney (0-1), Roisin Kearns (0-2), Eba McCann (1-2), Rachel Boyd (0-3), Makayla McLoughlin (0-1), Lousie Merrick (0-1). They now take on St. Nathys on Wednesday at 6.15PM. 
The U12 girls had an impressive 4-5 to 0-5 win over Owenmore Gaels on Friday evening last to book their place in the Championship Final. The team was: Emma O'Carroll, Sanduni Nanakanara, Kate Brady, Ruby Clark, Ellie McDermott, Amy Willis, Andie Brady, Ana McCann (1-0), Aine Power, Nadine Hargadon (0-3), Saoirse Mullaney, Meabh Lyons (1-0), Nola Eivers (2-2) Subs: Lucy Williams, Emma Crowley, Abbie Williams, Beth Candon, Leah Candon. They now face Drumcliffe in the final in next few weeks.
Well done to our U10 girls who had a nice end to the year when they participated in the exhibition game in Markievicz Park on county final day last Saturday. Thanks to manager Aisling Boyd for her work with the team this year.

There was no winner or match three in the lotto draw this weekend. The numbers drawn were 2,11,18,27 and the jackpot now stands at €2.500. 
The U13 Feile team had a big 6-8 to 0-2 win over Tourlestrane in the Feile Competition last Sunday.

It was a big weekend for the Club with us contesting three county finals, two of which we won.
First up was the Intermediate Team who had an impressive five point win over Castleconnor in the Division 2 League final on Saturday to gain promotion to Senior League ranks for next year. The final score was 1:13 to 0:11 with the decisive goal coming from Johnny Quinn. The team was:Donal Tuohy, Colin Harte, Paul Higgins (Capt), Declan Willis, Michael Hannon, Frank Quinn (0-1), Conor Merrick, Joe Henry, James Lyons, Vinny Boyd (0-3), David Quinn (0-3), Eoin O’Connell, Johnny Quinn (1-1), Keith McMorrow, Keith Candon (0-3). Subs: Liam O’Connell for C Harte (inj), Daire Kearns for E O’Connell, Paul Brennan for M Hannon, Eoin Carroll (0-2) for K McMorrow. Thanks to all of the panel for their efforts this year and to the management team of John Quinn, Ciaran Garry, Mark Tuohy and Johnny Kenny. 
The Girls U12 team lost out to Drumcliffe in the U12 Championship final on Sunday morning. Despite being well down at half time, the Girls put in a great performance and closed the gap significantly, however they lost in the end to a strong Drumcliffe side. The team was: Emma O'Carroll, Amy Willis, Kate Brady, Ruby Clark, Ellie McDermott, Sanduni Nanayakkara, Andie Brady, Ana McCann, Sorcha Mullaney, Nadine Hargadon, Aine Power, Meave Lyons, Nola Eivers, Leah Candon, Lucy Williams, Emma Crowley, Abbie Williams, Cloda Conlon, Meghan Potter, Eimear Kelly, Beth Candon, Lisa Somers, Jade McMorrow. Thanks to the team and management of Naomh Quinn, Aisling Boyd and Mairead Tuohy for the work they have put in this year. 
The Minor Girls finished the weekend on a high with a dramatic late winning goal from super sub Makayla McLoughlin to lift the Minor C Title. The Gaels had been ten points down at half time and looked like they had no hope, however they fought bravely in the second half and never gave up winning on a score of 5-9 to 4-11. The team was: Meabh McDermott, Eilis O'Connor (capt), Aoife Morrisroe, Sarah Walsh, Lisa Callaghan, Katy McCann, Roisin Drury, Lousie Merrick, Roisin Kearns, Rachel Boyd (2-2), Eba McCann (0-2), Joanne Johnston (0-1), Mairead Tuohy (1-1). Subs: Jade Lyons (0-1) for S Walsh, Chloe McTiernan for K McCann (inj), Makayla McLoughlin (2-2) for J Johnston, Sheona Leyden, Erin Mullaney, Jane Benson, Aisling Drury. The Girls U16 team take on St Nathys this Wednesday under lights at Scarden at 7PM in the semi-final of the Championship - please support. 
There was no winner of the lotto this weekend. The winning numbers were 1,7,9 and 10. Match 3 was won by Mary Quinn. The jackpot is now €2,600 with the next draw in Sean Macs on 24th October.

The girls U16 team lost to St Nathys in the Championship semi-final last Wednesday and this was their final game of the year. Thanks to all the girls for the work this year and to managers Edel Lyons and Michelle McMorrow for their continued good work with the ladies teams. The U14 team lost to St Farnans last Saturday and now have a must win game against St Marys next Sunday to remain in the Championship. 
Well done to our Gaelic for Mothers and Others (GMO) team who participated in a blitz in Dublin last weekend. 
The U21 team get their campaign started with a home game against Enniscrone this Saturday 24th at 4PM

The U21 game against Enniscrone due to be played last weekend was postponed and now takes place at home next Sunday at 2.30PM.

The U21 team got a walk over last Sunday and now progress to the quarter final with a home game next Sunday at 2PM against St Patricks. 
There was no winner of the lotto last weekend. The numbers drawn were 6, 24, 30 and 31. The next draw is on this Saturday 7th in Flanagans, Sooey.

The U21 team made their exit from the championship last Sunday losing out to St Patricks after extra time 3-11 to 1-21. Subs: Alan Kelly for A McCann, Luke Flynn for  C O'Connor, Daniel Willis for M Kearns, Andy Flynn for C Flynn. Thanks to Mark Tuohy and Vinny Boyd for their work with the U21 team this year. 
There was no winner of the lotto this weekend. Numbers drawn were 5, 21, 30 and 32. There were two match 3 winners, Mary Quinn and Donal Touhy. The next draw will be on Saturday 21st in Tommy Macs with the jackpot at €2,800.

The annual general meeting of the Senior Club takes place this Saturday evening 5th December at 8:00pm in the clubhouse. This is an important meeting where we reflect on the year gone by and make plans for 2016, your support would be gratefully appreciated.
