The Senior team are back in action this weekend having drawn St Molaise Gaels in the semi-final of the Championship - details to follow.
The Junior A team lost 2-11 to 0-18 to Tourlestrane in the relegation semi-final last weekend. They now take on Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in the final. The team was: Jack Duignan, Declan Willis, Eoin O'Connell, Tadgh Kenny, Jack Tuohy, Gavin McMorrow, Paul Brennan, Liam O'Connell (0-1), Cruz Lyons, Darragh McKeon (0-1), Conor McMorrow (0-8), Ciaran O'Connor, Luke Flynn (1-0), Steven Willis, James Foley (1-1). The Senior Ladies received a walk over from St Pats/St Farnans in the third round of the championship. They now play Calry/St Joseph's away on Sunday 27th September at 10.30AM.
The Ladies had a good win over Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in the Summer Cup. The team was: Kate Brehony, Marissa Hamilton, Molly Kearns Chapman, Aoife Brennan, Leah Coleman, Erin Mullaney, Grainne McDermott, Clare Tuohy, Katies Gilligan, Lara Swann, Orla Devaney, Naomh Quinn, Maeve Lyons, Eithne McGann, Makayla McLoughlin. Subs: Isabelle Clancy, Clodagh Galvin, Catherine McMorrow., Rebecca Garry and Mairead Tuohy.
The U17 boys lost to Curry on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-8. They now play St Molaise Gaels at home on Tuesday at 6.30PM.
The U16 girls had two games this week. They lost to Geevagh/St Michael's on Monday and also lost to St Patricks/St Farnans on Thursday, unlucky to lose by a point on a scoreline of 0-12 to 1-8. They will now play in Shield semi-final on Wednesday against Geevagh/St Michael's.
The U13 girls had a good 2-10 to 0-8 win over Drumcliffe/Rosses Point. The team was Kayla Barrett, Lucy Barkey, Shauna McTiernan, Siofra Gildea, Leah McManus, Clodagh Galvin, Lilly Ryan, Victoria Barlow, Lexi Mullaney, Aoife Quigley, Aoife Garry, Emily Jinks, Àlainn McMorrow, Sophie Potter, Shannen Cassidy subs used: Alana McHugh, Rachel Gillogley. Best wishes to Emily Jinks who sustained a hand injury at the end of the game. They now play Coolera/Strandhill away on Tuesday at 6.30PM.
The U13 girls Division 4 team lost to St Nathys on a scoreline of 6-4 to 0-10. The game was played in difficult conditions and our opponents got off to a strong start and led throughout the game. The team was: Catherine Conlon, Ciara Ryan, Katelyn Orr, Maya McKeon, Emily Jinks, Aimee McMorrow, Tiana Sohtun-Kerr, Lilly Ryan, Kate McMorrow, Rachel Gillogley, Anna McMahon, Nicole McMorrow, Robyn Henry, Ruby Armstrong subs used Croiadh Maguire and Charlene McGarty/Lavin. This was the girls last group game, but despite the defeat they still top the group and are now are straight into final. Date and opponents to be confirmed.
Our U11 boys host Owenmore Gaels at home on Monday at 6.30PM and will participate in a blitz on Saturday in Geevagh to finish off the year.
The U10 girls hosted Dromahair in their final game of the year last Thursday in a very entertaining game against strong opposition. Thanks to Dromahair for travelling and well done to all the girls who have improved every game this year.
Well done to the U9 boys and U8 girls who participated in Blitzes last week. Some excellent team work and skills on display.
The winner of the 50/50 draw last week was Grace Flynn who won €914.

Team of the week goes to the U14 Girls Team 1 who won the B Shield final against St Molaise Gaels last Tuesday. The girls got off to a blistering start and were 3-10 to 1-0 up at half-time. Their good form continued in the second half and they went on to win by 7-15 to 2-1. The team was: Kayla Barrett, Shauna McTiernan, Clodagh Galvin, Lauren Kearns Chapman, Bronagh Conlon, Aimee Mullaney, Elyse Medas, Lexi Mullaney, Kate Jinks, Amy Edwards, Aoife Garry, Kate Murrin, Sophie Potter and Savannah Cox. subs used: Leah Mc Manus, Victoria Barlow, Eleni Sohtun-Kerr, Lola Cunnane, Aoife O'Connor, Hollie White injured and Keeva Clancy injured. The win finished off a great year for our U14 girls with a panel of 32 players, we had 2 teams with both teams making league and championship finals and winning 3 out of 4. It was great to have the full panel there on Tuesday night to finish up the year with food after the game.

The U15 boys lost to a strong Enniscrone/Kilglass team last Monday in the B1 final in Scarden. Our opponents got off to a good start and led 5-10 to 2-1 at half-time. Their dominance continued into the second half and they ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of 7-18 to 3-6. A disappointing end to the year for the players but they had a great year, winning the A league plate winners and had a good run in the championship and were unbeaten up to the final. Both U13 girls teams were in action again last week with our Division 1 team played St Nathys in their second game and recorded a good 6-16 to 2-8 win. The U13 girls Division 4 team continued their unbeaten run with a comprehensive 7-15 to 2-4 win over Eoghan Rua. The team was Kayla Barrett, Ciara Ryan, Katelyn Orr, Maya Mc Keon, Aimee McMorrow, Emily Jinks, Lilly Ryan, Tiana Sohtun-Kerr, Kate McMorrow, Anna McMahon, Rachel Gillogley, Nicole McMorrow, Croiadh Maguire and Ruby Armstrong subs used Robyn Henry and Charlene McGarty-Lavin. They now play St Nathys in their final group game on Tuesday at 6.15PM in Buninadden.
The U11 boys play St Farnans at home on Monday at 7.00PM.
The U10 and U8 girls welcomed neighbors St Michaels and Geevagh last Wednesday and in three entertaining games there was great skills on display. The girls will now play Dromahair on Thursday at home at 6.30PM.
The U9 boys have a blitz in Scarden on Thursday where St Johns, Cloonacool and St Marys will provide the opposition.
Our U7 boys and girls welcomed Dromahair on Saturday morning. There were some great scores and enthusiastic team work which provided great entertainment for the supporters watching. Thanks to Dromahair for travelling.
The winners of the monthly members draw were Paddy O'Grady, Fioan Lyons and Glen McDermott, while Francis Quinn and Eamonn McMunn won entries to the 50/50 draw.
The winner of the 50/50 draw last week was Ann Healy who won €788.

Team of the week is the U14 girls team 2 who won the Summer Cup Final last Thursday against Eastern Harps on a scoreline of 6-15 to 4-7. The U18 girls lost the A semi-final to Drumcliffe/Rosses Point after extra time last Wednesday. The Gaels led by four at half-time and started well in the second half extending the lead to seven, however our opponents dominated the last 15 minutes and scored three goals to lead by a point heading into the closing stages. The Gaels got an equaliser to send the game to extra time. There was very little separating the sides in extra time however a free in the last minute was enough to secure the win for Drumcliffe/Rosses Point by the narrowest of margins on a scoreline of 4-7 to 0-18. The team was Abbie Mc Tiernan, Leah Coleman, Sophia Rose Henry, Marissa Hamilton, Clodagh Galvin, Aoibhinn Conlon, Molly Kearns Chapman, Penny Barlow, Katie Gilligan, Grainne McDermott, Rebecca Garry, Aisling Dwyer, Isobel Clancy, Aaleasha Sweeney, Ava Lyons subs used: Ciara Scanlon for Aaleasha Sweeney injured, Eva Callaghan for Sophia Rose Henry injured, Shanara Middleton, Ella Thomson, Hannah Rainey. Hard luck to the girls particularly those who have played their last underage game but we look forward to them continuing their career at adult level for the club. The U11 boys enjoyed three games on Monday evening against St Pat's, St Johns and Geevagh. There was great team work on display. They now play Eastern Harps in Keash on Monday at 7.00PM.
The U9 boys travelled to Easkey last week. It was a tough challenge with all the boys playing really well and showing great team work. They have no game this week.
Our U10 and U8 girls play St Michael's and Geevagh at home on Wednesday at 6.30PM.
Our U7 boys and girls will host Dromahair at home this Saturday at 10.00AM.

Team of the week goes to the U13 boys who won the B1 Championship Plate final with a two point dramatic win over Ballymote/Bunninadden. After a strong first half the Gaels had a big lead at halftime, but our opponents came out strong in the second half to lead by a point with a few minutes left and it took a goal from the Gaels in the closing stages to see us win on a scoreline of 4-4 to 2-8. The panel on the night was: Tommy Hamilton, Daniel Murphy, Kian Burns, Patrick Gilligan, Tiernan Kennedy, Conan Sweeney, Maverick Lyons, Caelan Flynn, Shea McGrath, Kaden McGann (0-2), Daire Flynn, Leo Byrne, Andrew Henry (3-2), Shane Regan, (1-0), Kyron Cox, James Devaney, Tadhg O'Grady, Christopher Casey and Odin Gray Woulfe. This concludes the u13 boys season. Thanks to all their coaches for the work with the lads during the year.

The girls trialled by six mid-way though the second half but battled well in the last ten minutes to come away with the victory thanks in no part to three goals from substitutes, Orla Devaney and two from the reliable Simone Moss. The Senior Men are through to the Championship semi-final, thanks to a comprehensive 6-32 to 4-6 win over Tubbercurry and other group results. This was the last group game and the Gaels semi-final scheduled for the weekend of 19th/20th September. The U13 girls league commenced this week with the clubs fielding two teams again competing at Division 1 and Division 4. The U13 Division 1 team were first up against Eoghan Rua in difficult conditions on Wednesday. Our opponents got to grips with the wet conditions much quicker and although the Gaels had a strong last ten minutes they lost by two points on a scoreline of 6-5 to 7-4. This was a great team performance and the first competitive game for the club for most of this team. Team of the week goes to the U18 boys who won the B1 Cup final against Eastern Harps on a scoreline of 3-11 to 2-13. This was a significant result for the Gaels having suffered a heavy defeat to the same opposition in the group stages a few weeks ago. Eastern Harps started the better and went in at half time five points ahead on a scoreline of 1-6 to 0-4. The Gaels closed the gap in the second half and took a one point lead just at the end of normal time. Harps got a goal after a high ball into the square was flicked into the Gaels net however this wasn't the last score of the game and our lads won the kick out to deliver a quick ball into the forward line and Troy Kelly was on hand to find the back of the net to put us ahead by one just as the final whistle was blown. It was a very historic weekend for the club as we fielded a second adult ladies team for the first time in our clubs history. The ladies secured a comprehensive win over Coolera/Strandhill. It was a busy weekend with all four adult teams in Championship action.
First up was the Junior C team who took on neighbours St Michaels coming out on top on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-10. The Gaels were five points up going into the last quarter and in an exciting last period held on to win. Our G4M&O team participated in a blitz hosted by Glencar Manorhamilton on Saturday playing teams from Cavan, Donegal and Fermanagh. It was a disappointing weekend for our adult teams, with only our Senior Ladies winning in sun drenched Shamrock Gaels Park. They defeated CT Gaels in the ACL league on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-11. They play Drumcliffe/Rosses Point next Sunday at home at 10.30AM.

The Senior Men lost 0-8 to 3-18 to St Molaise Gaels in the second round of the Spring League last Friday.
The Senior ladies had a good 1-14 to 1-10 win over CT Gaels in a very entertaining game in Tubbercurry on Sunday. They now play Eastern Harps next Sunday at 10.30AM in their first home game this year. All support welcome.

The senior men are back on the field next weekend with a home game in the JBG Security, Spring League. Time and day to be confirmed. The championship draws took place last week and the Gaels were drawn in Group 1 of the Senior championship with Eastern Harps, Tourlestrane, St Marys and Tubbercurry. The Junior A Team were drawn in group 2 with Drumcliffe/Rosses Point, St Molaise Gaels, St Johns and Eastern Harps while the Junior C team were drawn in group 2 with St Michaels and Easkey.
All of the ladies games were cancelled at the weekend due to the weather so the first league game for the senior ladies will be against St Molaise Gaels away on Sunday at 10.00AM.

We held a very successful cardiac screening last week which was facilitated the Dillon Quirke Foundation to raise awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS). Thanks to all who helped out and also thanks to Sligo Folk Park for the use of their facilities and to AMS Medical who carried out the screening.

Thanks to all who all who attended the Dinner Dance last weekend. It was an historic event with the presentation of medals to the Senior men's League and Championship winners and marked with a rousing poem from Club President, Tommy Deignan.
There was also special presentations to Gus Chapman in recognition of refereeing the All Ireland LGFA Senior final last year, Lee Deignan and Sean Carroll who won the Sigerson Cup last year with DCU and to Jade Lyons who won her third O'Connor Cup with DCU last year.
The Player of the year awards went to George Barlow who won the Karl Galvin Memorial Cup for U20 player of the year, John Craig won the Junior B player of the year, Jack Brehony won the Connolly Family memorial Cup for Junior A player of the year, while David Quinn and Conor Sheridan shared the Vincent Boyd Memorial Cup for Senior player of the Year. The Davina Duncan Memorial Cup for Ladies player of the year was won by Lara Swann. Groundsmen, John Quinn and Michael Brennan won the John Lyons memorial Cup for outstanding contribution to the Club during the year.

The nutrition talk planned for Jan 24th has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. It will be re-scheduled at a later date.
