29th August 2011 The club wish to express sympathy with the Quinn family, relatives and friends on the death last week of Club Patron and lifelong supporter, Fr Francis Quinn. Club members formed a guard of honour at the funeral while a minutes silence was observed before the U16 final in memory of Fr Francis - Ar dheis de go raibh a h-anam. Tickets are now on sale with a first prize of two All Ireland Football final tickets plus €200 spending money - please support this important club fundraiser. Tickets are €2 each of 3 for €5 and are available from any committee member. The postponed Senior championship game against Easkey goes ahead on Tuesday in Enniscrone at 7.00PM. The Juniors play in the 'B' Championship final this Friday 2nd Sept against local rivals Geevagh. The game is at 7.30PM in Sligo IT - please come out and support. Due to the Junior game - the monthly club meeting will take place on Friday week 9th September at 9.00PM. The minor team are at home to St Marys this Thursday 1st September at 7.00PM in the Championship. The U16 boys went down to Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in the Shield Final in Markievicz Park on Friday last in an entertaining game that was belied by the scoreline of 1-4 to 4-6. The team was:- Daniel Baker, Cathal McDermott (01), Darragh Lyons, Brian Candon, John Óg Conlon, Ryan McKenna, Eoin Carroll (12), Liam Tuohy, Enda OConnell, Daniel Willis, Michael Kilkenny, Sean Quigley, Stephen Scanlon, subs Mark Kearns (01), Conor Carroll, Ciaran Kilfeather and Alan Kelly. This was the U16's last game and it has been a great season - winning the 'C' League and reaching the Shield Final. The club would like to thank the team and management of Martin Nealon, Philip Kearns, Niall Kearns and Andrew Nealon for the work with the team this year. The U14 girls were beaten by Ballymote in Corran Park on Monday week last. The team was: Sheona Leydon, Eilis OConnor, Louise Merrick, Chloe Merrick, Laura Johnston (10), Saoirse Gilgarro, Rachel Higgins, Aisling Merrick, Mairead Tuohy, Joanne Johnston, Roisin Kearns, Rachel Boyd (01), Sarah Walsh, subs Ciara Kelly and Sinead Flynn. |
