28th February 2011 The 2010 underage awards will be presented this Saturday 5th March at 8.30PM in Riverstown Hall. There are awards in all grades - boys and girls - while the Leo & Phil Kearns Memorial cup will be presented to the overall winner. We will also present the Minor medals for the Championship winning team and medals for the U14 blitz winners - all are welcome - please note change of venue. The Minors got the season off to a great start with a comprehensive 3-15 to 1-3 win over St Johns in the league at Riverstown last Sunday. The team was Ricky Johnston, Robbie Johnston, Declan Willis, Calvin Flynn, Gavin McMorrow (0 -1), Eoin O'Connell, Shane Barry, Adrian McCann, Paul O'Grady (0 -1), Kevin Coleman (1 -0), Brian Boyd ( 0-3 1F), Ciaran O'Connor (0 -1), Keith Candon (0 -2), David Quinn (1 -7 3F), Kieran Cawley (1-0). subs Conor Merrick for Calvin Flynn, Liam Tuohy for Kieran Cawley and Ronan McTiernan for Keith Candon. under strength Senior team went down to Eastern Harps in the second round
of the Kiernan Cup at Keash on Saturday evening. The teams were level
on four points each at half-time, however seven unanswered points midway
through the second half did the damage and Harps eventually ran out winners
on a scoreline of 0-14 to 0-7. The team was: Ricky Johnston, Shane In advance of the commencement of the Senior league next weekend there will be an important players meeting in the clubhouse after training on Wednesday evening. All Senior, Junior and U20 players are expected to attend. Please also note that annual membership fees will be collected at this meeting. The draw for the Senior championship took place last Sunday - the Gaels have been drawn in Group 1 with Eastern Harps, St Molaise Gaels, Ballymote, Coolera and Easkey while the Juniors have been drawn against Easkey in Round 1 of the B Championship. There
will be a foundation coaching course on 11th/12th March in the Teeling
Centre - it is mandatory for all underage coaches/managers to have this
qualification. For those who have the foundation level there will be an
Award 1 coaching course on 26th/27th April - to register your interest
