27th June 2011 The Senior team earned a valuable league point at the weekend with a 1-12 to 0-15 home draw against Tubbercurry. In an exciting encounter the Gaels were two points down as the game entered extra time when Frank Quinn scored a goal to put the teams level Liam OConnell then scored a point to put the Gaels ahead and it looked like the Gaels were going to snatch the win, however deep into injury time Tubbercurry responded and pointed to level the game. The Senior team are away to St Maloise Gaels next Saturday at 7.30PM in the final league game.
The Junior team continued their good run with an easy 1-10 to 0-3 win over Bunninadden last Friday. The Juniors are away to Drumcliffe/Rosses this Friday 1st July at 8.00PM. The U16 start the C Championship this Monday 27th June with an away game against Ballymote at 7.00PM.
The U14 team had a good away win against St Michaels in the first round of the A Championship last Friday. In very difficult conditions, the Gaels dominated the game in the first half leading by twelve points at half-time on a scoreline of 4-2 to 0-2. The Gaels survived a scare in the second half when St Michaels came within four points, however a Ciaran Kilfeather goal along with a point from Cian McDermott and two from Darragh Hailstones gave the Gaels a seven point win on a scoreline of 5-5 to 2-7. The team was: Stephen Keegan, Declan Benson, Conor Carroll, Daniel Baker, Cian McDermott (0-1), Darragh Lyons, Conor McGrievy, Enda OConnell (0-1), Paul Higgins, Darragh Hailstones (0-2), Caolan Morrisroe, Aaronn Kelly, Ciaran Kilfeather (1-0), Caolan McCann (2-1), Mark Walsh (2-0). The U14s are away this Saturday at a Connacht Blitz while they take on Calry in the quarter final of the Championship on 8th July. The
club wish to express sympathy with the family and relatives of Peter Winders,
husband of Christina Brennan, formerly of Kilross and to Sharon McCormack,
Kilross on the death of her grandmother, Margaret Murray.
