26th September 2011 The Juniors ensured promotion to Division 3 with a well merited eight point win over Drumcliffe/ Rosses Point in the Division 4 playoff game at Oxfield Park on Saturday evening. The foundations for this victory were laid by a solid first half performance, which saw us going into the half-time break ahead by seven points on a scoreline of 0-11 to 1-1. Whilst ouropponents had the ball in the net again within a minute of the resumption, the Gaels refused to panic and fired over seven unanswered points and eventually ran out convincing winners on a final scoreline of 1-19 to 3-5. The team was; Declan Loughnane, Conor Mc Donagh, Paul Brennan, John Craig, Gavin Mc Morrow (0-2), Padraig Cassidy, Niall Brennan, Peter Henry (0-2), James Lyons (0-1), Brian Boyd (1-0), David Quinn (0-6), Kevin Barry (0-1), Johnny Quinn (0-3), Eoin Mc Dermott (0-1), Keith Candon (0-3). Subs; Shane Barry for C Mc Donagh, Diarmuid Jinks for S Barry, Eoin O'Connell for K Barry. This is a significant achievement for the Club and we look forward with anticipation to next year.
