15th August 2011 The Junior team advanced to the final of the 'B' Championship with a comprehensive 1-16 to 0-8 win over St Farnans last Saturday evening. They now play Geevagh in the final at a date to be announced. The team was: Declan Loughnane, Diarmuid Jinks, Conor McDonagh, Gavin McMorrow, Padraig Cassidy, Niall Craig, Eoin McDermott, Niall Brennan (0-2), Brian Boyd (0-4), Peter Henry (0-1), Enda Tuohy (1-2), Keith Candon (0-4), Enda Foley (0-2). Subs: James Conlon for Gavin McMorrow, Donal Carroll for Enda Foley, Andrew Nealon (0-1) for Enda Tuohy, Donal McDermott for Conor McDonagh. The U16 boys had a good win over Bunanadden in the Shield semi-final last Monday in Shamrock Gaels Park. The team was:- Daniel Baker, Darragh Lyons, Cathal McDermott, Conor Carroll, Ryan McKenna, John Óg Conlon (01), Brian Candon, Liam Tuohy (05), Daniel Willis, Sean Quigley (10), Michael Kilkenny (04), Enda OConnell (01), Mark Kearns (13), Eoin Carroll (22), Stephen Scanlon (10). They play Drumcliffe in the Final in Markievicz Park on Friday 26th August. Our Minor team had a good win over Tubbercurry on Thursday last in Shamrock Gaels Park. The team was:- Ricky Johnston, Conor Merrick, Declan Willis, Calvin Flynn, Ciaran OConnor, Gavin McMorrow, Shane Barry, Paul OGrady (01), Adrian McCann (01), Brian Boyd (04), Keith Candon (02), Eoin OConnell (02), Johnny Quinn, Dylan Edwards (1-1), subs; Robbie Johnston, David Quinn (04), Ronan McTiernan. They play Coolera/Strandhill on Thursday next in Ransboro Park at 7.00PM. Best wishes to goalkeeper Ricky Johnston who sustained a shoulder injury less than ten minutes into the game and will be out of action for the rest of the season. The Senior team play the last group game of the Championship next Saturday evening at 5.30PM against Easkey in Enniscrone. Best of luck to Tadgh McKenna, son of former Gaels player Noel - who is part of the Roscommon Minor Team who take on Tipperary in the All Ireland semi-final on Sunday. The club wish to express sympathy with the family and relatives of former Gaels player John Mulvaney formerly of Annaghcarty who died during the week in Luton, England.
