The VHI Cúl Camp takes place next week in Shamrock Gaels Park for ages 7-13 - you can book on line at vhiculcamps.gaa.ie or by contacting Mary Quinn on 086 3757626

The Juniors got their Division 5 campaign back on track with a solid two point win over St. Mary's at Shamrock Gaels Park last Friday evening. The Gaels started brightly, with two points from Joe Quinn and Enda Foley on six minutes and twelve minutes respectively. The visitors put over their first point midway through the half and it was to be the twenty second minute before there was another score, with a point off the boot of Paddy O'Grady. Enda Foley extended the Gaels lead a minute later, however St. Mary's responded with two unanswered points before O'Grady pointed again on twenty eight minutes to leave the half-time score 0-5 to 0-3 in favour of the Gaels.

The Gaels dominated the early exchanges of the second half and had notched up three unanswered points from Mark Boyd and Enda Tuohy (two) within five minutes. St. Mary's pointed on six minutes and the Gaels had a big let off five minutes later when the visitors missed a penalty. The Gaels seized the advantage however and from the kickout, the ball was worked up the field and Enda Foley rounded off a good move to send over a great point. Vinny Boyd finished off good work by Eoin Mc Dermott a minute later to send over an excellent point. Enda Foley then retrieved the ball from the resultant kickout and extended the Gaels lead to seven with another well taken point on fifteen minutes. Mary's kept in touch with a point three minutes later, however Mark Boyd responded with a point on 21 minutes. St. Mary's got right back into the game a minute later with a goal to reduce the deficit to four points and were now growing in confidence. Enda Tuohy scored his third point a minute on 23 minutes, however this was to be the Gaels' last score as St. Mary's went on to hit three unanswered points to set up a tense finish. The Gaels hung on to run out deserved winners on a scoreline of 0-13 to 1-8.
