March 2010 The Gaels were back on level terms after six minutes of the second half with a point from Paddy O'Grady after a quick free from John Paul Henry. Derek Davey put the Gaels into the lead for the first time in the game with a point a minute later, however Castleconnor responded immediately with a point to level the game again. It was Davey again who pointed on twelve minutes to regain the lead for the Gaels. Eoin McDermott got a goal on ninteen minutes after a goalmouth scramble to put the Gaels four points ahead. Both sides exchanged points in the last ten minutes, the Gaels first was a great individual fisted score from Derek Davey while Paddy O'Grady pointed deep into injury time to give the Gaels a four point victory on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-7. The team was: Mark Tuohy, Liam O'Connell, James Lyons, Niall Craig, Michael Hannon, Paul Brennan, Johnny Burke, Eoin McDermott (1-0), Jarlath Lyons, Joe Quinn (0-3), John Paul Henry (capt), Keith McMorrow, Paddy O'Grady (0-3), Glen McDermott (0-1), Derrick Davey (0-4), Subs: Niall Brennan for M Hannon (inj), Brian McDermott for Glen McDermott, Kevin Barry for D Davey (inj). The Gaels now await the outcome of the Easkey/Tubbercurry game to see if they will make these final. The Gaels first league game is this Saturday evening 20th March at home to St Marys at 5.00PM. Congratulations to John Paul Henry who has been appointed Senior captain for 2010. The U-16 had a disappointing start to the league losing at home to Tourlestrane last Sunday morning. Despite playing against the wind in the first half the Gaels started well, however they missed a number of chances before Ciarain O'Connor got a point on six minutes. O'Connor pointed again two minutes later. There followed a long barren spell with both teams struggling to gain the upper hand and it was Tourlestrane who broke the deadlock on twenty minutes. Ciarain O'Connor pointed again on twenty two minutes to restore the Gaels advantage, however with five minutes left Tourlestrane got in for a goal to take the lead. Gavin McMorrow pointed in the last minute to leave the half time score at 0-4 to 1-2. Tourlestrane added a point in the first minute of the second half, while a minute later the Gaels got a great boost with a goal from Ciarain O'Connor to put the Gaels into the lead. The Gaels however did not build on this and Tourlestrane started to get the upper hand scoring four points in quick succession to regain the lead. Tourlestrane scored two quick goals mid-way through the second half and despite a late Gaels rallay with a late Liam Tuohy goal there was no way back for the Gaels and they lost out on a final scoreline of 2-7 to 3-11. The team was: Kevin Broderick, Brian Candon, Calvin Flynn, John Óg Conlon, Peter Lavin, Declan Willis, Gavin McMorrow (0-1), Adrian McCann, Eoin Carroll, Kieran Cawley, Ciarán O'Connor (1-5), Ronan McTiernan, Jonathan Quinn (0-1), Sean Quigley, Liam Tuohy (1-0). The U-16 team's next game is away to Ballymote/Bunninadden on Monday 29th March at 6.30PM. The Minor team are at home to Tourlestrane on St Patricks Day at 11.00AM. The U14 team
