11th April 2010

Well done to Sligo on their promotion to Division 2 at the weekend.

The U8 and U10 blitz that was due to be played last Saturday was postponed and will now take place this Saturday at 11.30AM in Ballymote.

The U12's had a great day out in Croke Park last Thursday with all players getting the opportunity to play on the pitch. This was a great experience for all involved and certainly something that the children will remember for years to come. We had two teams playing at the same
time - both playing three games against St Michaels, Bunninadden and Mayo teams Crossmolina, St Gerards and Bonniconlon.

Both U12 teams begin their league action this Tuesday with away games against St Johns.

The U14 team are away to Enniscrone this Friday 16th at 7PM.

On Easter Monday the under 16's had a hard fought home win over Tubbercurry/Cloonacool in difficult conditions. The Gaels had the advantage of a gale force wind and torrential rain in the first half and led by 9 points at the break. In the second half goalkeeper Kevin Broderick had to pull off a number of saves as Tubber piled on the pressure but the Gaels held on for a seven point win on a scoreline of 2-10 to 2 -3. The team was: Kevin Broderick, Brian Candon, Calvin
Flynn, Peter Lavin, Declan Willis (0- 3), Gavin McMorrow, Adrian McCann, Eoin Carroll, Ronan McTiernan (0-2), Ciaran O'Connor (0 -3), Kieran Cawley (0-1), Jonathan Quinn (2-0), Liam Tuohy (0 -1), subs: Stephen Scanlon for Liam Tuohy. The U16 team are away to Eastern Harps
this Monday 12th April at 7.00PM while they are at home to Coolaney/Mullinabreena next Monday 19th at 7.00PM.

The Seniors are back in action at the weekend with an away game against Eastern Harps on Sunday at 2.20PM.

The Ladies team were beaten by the narrowest of margins by Tubbercurry/Cloonacool in the Junior League on Easter Sunday in Riverstown Park on a score line of 3-9 to 3-10. Team and scorers:- Kate McDermott, Ruth Tighe, Caroline Lavin, Eimear McDermott, Siobhan
Brennan, Meg Mullen, Edel Lyons, Aoife Harte (0-1), Simone Kelly (0-2), Joanne Harrison (1-1), Michelle Tuohy, Elaine Brennan (2-1), Louise Harte (0-4), subs: Sarah McDermott for Caroline Lavin and Deirdre Benson for Michelle Tuohy. The Ladies had a good win over Drumcliffe/Rosses Point on Saturday in Riverstown Park in ideal conditions. The Gaels playing with a light breeze behind them led by 3-5 to 0-2 at the break. In the second half they were playing into a
strong sun but still dominated for long periods despite Drumcliffe/Rosses Point piling on the pressure particularly in the closing ten minutes or so. The final score was 5 -12 to 2- 4. Team and scorers: Kate McDermott,Ruth Tighe, Caroline Lavin, Louise Harte, Siobhan Brennan, Meg Mullen, Edel Lyons, Aoife Harte (0-1), Simone Kelly (4-6), Joanne Harrison (0-1), Jinell Healy (0 -3), Elaine Brennan, Michelle Tuohy, subs Sarah McDermott for Caroline Lavin, Fiona
